At a private Kalorama home last Friday night, Washington’s most powerful young professionals gathered to launch a D.C. chapter of  UNICEF’s Next Generation— a group committed to saving children’s lives. 18,000 children die every day from preventable causes, Next Generation is working to make that number zero.

Through its art parties, fundraising campaigns, and notorious masquerade ball, the group has raised over $3 million for UNICEF programs worldwide. Its members include social entrepreneur Lauren Bush Lauren, actress Ahna O’Reilly and society writer Gillian Hearst Simonds, according to its website.

The invite-only dinner was hosted by Next Generation board members Jenna Bush Hager, Michael Hardaway, Sara Jacobs and William McGuire. The rumor mill says the night’s guest list included professional athletes, political insiders, and private equity executives.

The U.S. Fund for UNICEF supports UNICEF’s work, and other efforts in support of the world’s children, through fundraising, advocacy, and education in the United States.
