Jazz in the Garden | National Gallery of Art | Free 5:00 PM

Grab a blanket, food, and friends and head over to the National Portrait Gallery for a free jazz concert. Bags will be checked at the door for cans of beer and other clearly marked liquor. The free concert series features jazz artists performing a wide variety of styles—salsa, blues fusion, xylophone, Afrofunk, and more—every Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:30 in the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden. Exhibit: Art Blooms: Satsuki Azalea Bonsai | National Bonsai & Penjing Museum at the National Arboretum| May 22 – June 1, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Head to the National Arboretum for a hike, bike, picnic, or just to see the sights. They also currently have an exhibit with bonsai, miniature in form, but covered with multicolored, full-sized flowers. Late-blooming Satsuki azaleas have been hybridized in Japan for hundreds of years; many of the museum’s azalea bonsai were started from cuttings collected in Japan in the last century. This annual exhibit showcases our most spectacular examples in a formal display. Based on individual bloom times, trees may be on display in the outdoor pavilions before and after the week-long indoor exhibit. It is of course free.

The Bike Rack is offering a one hour Yoga Class on Sunday evening at 6:00. Our licensed instructors will lead you through an hour of Vinyassa Flow with the sequence and intensity of the class adjusted to the personal experience of each individual student.
Registration is not required to attend however, it does help us to know how many people to expect. Our classes are donation based, with a suggested donation of $5.00. Grab your yoga mat and join us, if you do not have a yoga mat, we have a few extras. We look forward to seeing you here!
