Baseball season in Washington has arrived. And whether you’re a fan or just going along for the ride, game days are for more than sitting in the stands.

Nationals’ Park sits in the heart of the Navy Yard neighborhood– where options to eat, play, and explore abound. After watching the Nationals, you may be looking somewhere to eat or meet up for drinks.  Here’s our curated take on the best things to do after a game at Nationals Park:

Dine at Whaley’s Raw Bar

Whaley’s Raw Bar

If you didn’t fill up on popcorn and fries at the stadium, head over to one of the many delicious restaurants in Yards Park.

Whaley’s Raw Bar and Restaurant is just a short walk from the stadium and features a menu of fresh, seasonal items. Share one of their mouth-watering seafood towers with your group, and then try an entrée like fresh snapper or pan-seared scallops.

With sweeping views of the river, an extensive craft cocktail menu, and to-die-for food options, Whaley’s is the perfect place to spend the evening after catching the game.

Catch a Concert

Sometimes after a game, you’re just tired of sitting. If you want to get up and move, check out one of the outdoor concerts at the Capitol Riverfront.

“I absolutely love the free concert series at the park,” says baseball fanatic and local resident Sabrina. “One of my favorite things to do is go to an afternoon game and then head over to [Yards Park] afterward. I can get a bite to eat, listen to some music, and just hang out with my friends.”

All of the concerts at the Park are absolutely free, so see which one falls on a game day and then get ready to get your groove on after the final inning. You can find the Yards Park concert schedule here.

Do Beers at BLUEJACKET Brewery

What better way to celebrate a win or shake off a loss than by hitting up a bar after the game? While there are many excellent bars and restaurants around the stadium, Bluejacket has perhaps the most interesting beer selection.

As a brewery as well as a restaurant, Bluejacket has a wide variety of beers on draft. From bold IPAs to sweet stouts and everything in between, you’re sure to find something you enjoy at this brewery.

Order taster-size beers if you want to sample a few, or simply order a pint if you know what you like. And don’t forget to order some snacks from their food menu too.

Lounge Around at a Picnic at Yards Park

Sometimes you just want to spend more time outdoors. When the weather is nice, take advantage by enjoying a picnic outside.

After the game head over to Yards Park and enjoy the weather. Bring a blanket, some food, and a good book and spend the day in the sun.

On hot days, you can always find some shade or duck into one of the restaurants or bars at the Park. Watch families splash around in the wading pool, then jump in yourself.
