Penthouse Pool Club
This sun-drenched rooftop sits atop the Vida Fitness on U Street but feels like a Miami getaway. Reserve a luxury cabana and bring your swimsuit for a poolside summer celebration. Don’t worry if the U Street location is booked, a second (and better) location for Penthouse Pool Club recently opened in DC’s Navy Yard neighborhood.

Jack Rose Dining Saloon
We’ve been going to Jack Rose for a long time. So much so that you may have attended our annual Valentine’s Day party, Qlikd, at some point during your stint in Washington. We love this place. And for a birthday we especially love that you can reserve their small upstairs room complete with a fireplace, balcony, and your own bartender.

With whiskey bottles lining the walls, you’ll want to try the JR Private Barrels for $23.

From the center of the action to old-fashion people watching, Bar DuPont offers the best of both worlds. Reserve a space in their back nook for an optimal view of the floor to ceiling glass windows framing the hustle and bustle of DuPont Circle.

Try a signature cocktail like The Cayugan– a mix of Rittenhouse rye whiskey, apple cider liqueur, Domaine de Canton, lemon, ginger beer, and bitters.

Teddy & The Bully Bar
For a beautiful birthday location with great food and palpable energy, this spot has you covered. Inspired by Theodore Roosevelt, Teddy & The Bully Bar has an atmosphere that envelops visitors with natural elements, rich history, and ornate details.

Featuring classic and modern cocktails, The Bully Bar serves a variety of cocktails inspired by “the Golden Era” of cocktail history.  As an homage to Teddy Roosevelt, we recommend ordering the Roosevelt Island Punch, which serves 2-8 people.

Full disclosure: I celebrated my 30th birthday here and it was perfect. I despise big birthday dinners and often opt for an event where friends and family can come and go as they please. This space is intimate and open at the same time. Simple food and a space that beckons people to gather. Whether you want to get together with a few friends or 20, the marble-topped bar overlooking 14th Street is the perfect place for craft cocktails, delicious bites, and great conversations.

Easy to miss in the U Street neighborhood, but a gem once found. Sotto is a perfect restaurant for birthdays location. Stationed right below Ghibellina, this underground bar is darker than most and perfect for a gathering of old and new friends.

Enjoy for a limited time a V.E.P. cocktail, a traditional Green Chartreuse with an extra long aging in oak casks.

Yes, we do mean the upscale clothing store. Seriously. If you’re a client, Burberry will host your birthday complete with a bottle of champagne and gourmet cake. We’ve done the whole party in a retail space thing so trust us on this one. Of course, these locations do not market this offering and host them at their discretion. But it doesn’t hurt to ask, especially if you’re a loyal client.
