At his third annual all-white charity event benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington, Washington Redskins player Pierre Garçon raised $106,000 for the cause.
“I always look forward to this event,” Garçon said. “BGCGW was home for me, and I want to give other kids the same chance to engage with their communities and have the same opportunities I had. Hopefully, each year will be even more successful than the last.”

The event was hosted at the Millennium Building (1909 K St. NW) and welcomed guests like Redskins Quarterback Robert Griffin III, Offensive Tackle Trent Williams, Placekicker Kai Forbath, Tight End Niles Paul, Quarterback Kirk Cousins, and former Redskin and Super Bowl champ Doug Williams.
Major sponsors of the event include The Tower Companies, Brett Johnson Collection, and Moet.
Guests had the chance to contribute via live auction with items including VIP access at Echostage at a concert of the winner’s choosing, as well as an appearance in a commercial with Garçon for Paisano’s Restaurant.
The event also honored seventeen-year-old Ayanna Holmes, BGCGW’s Youth of the Year. Holmes, who lives in District Heights, takes two trains and a bus every day to come to BGCGW and plans to go to college for social work after she graduates next year. “[BGCGW] took me from where I was and built me up to the person I am today.”
Chief Development Officer for BGCGW Paul Alagero said, “Garçon is the perfect role model for the Boys and Girls Club.”
